Discover the delicate balance of the natural world as you explore the unspoiled wilderness of Zambia on foot. It is in the South Luangwa that the legendary Norman Carr pioneered the walking safari and conservation-based tourism in Africa. Zambia’s outstanding reputation of guiding is ever prevalent in our team, with some of our guides having trained with Norman himself.

Our guides offer guests a raw, authentic safari experience and don’t let the finer details in these vast spaces pass you by. Slow down and trace a leopard track in the sand, watch the delicate dance of an oxpecker on a zebra, listen to the sunrise call of a lion, breathe in the wild African air.

Walks often begin early, when the light is soft and the air is still cool. Whether following a herd of giraffes across a channel or watching bee-eaters nest in a bank, each encounter is seen in a very different light when discovered on foot. Walks are offered in both of our destinations and can be tailored to your comfort, whether a short morning outing or a dedicated walking itinerary.

For the more adventurous, Time + Tide’s South Luangwa bush camps are linked by foot, offering a rare opportunity to walk between them across several days. The bush camps are open from 20 May to 15 November, and every step is supported with warm hospitality, from luggage transfers to warm beds and delicious meals waiting on arrival. Game drives and our signature Sleepout under the Stars can be added along the way.
